Taming of the Shrew

Summary: Taming of the Shrew was originally written by William Shakespeare and I watched the modernized play directed by Donald Schwartz. The play is the portrail of a young women Katerina(shrew) and a young guy that takes on the challenge to "tame' her-Perchutio.

Response:
I believe the play was a believable portrail of what Shakespeare had originally put out. I have seen similar movies that reinact the same story line- 10 Things I hate about you. Unfortunately the play had to be cut down to a 2 hour show which i think took away from the overall affect. I know that the taming of Katerina is a pretty largeevent and it take numerious trials by Perchutio but it wasn't protrayed very well in the play.
During the play i picked up on great acting skills and good facial expressions. My faviorite was when the actors have to pretend to be whispering but have to do it loudly enough that the audience can hear- i think that takes skill and was well done throughout the play. Unfortunately there were a few actors that failed to capture my attention. They were very monotone and I could barely hear their lines. I know you are going to run into this with every play so i didn't hold it against them in my overall liking of the play.
Also the scenery and customes i thought were well thought out. They captured the time period and made you feel like you were back in time with them. I know there was only one large standing prop which i believe to be katerinas house but that was ok becuase the director was able to have all of the scenes revolve around that. It didn't feel awkawrd or out of place.
